Hello!

My name is Connie Johnson. I have the distinct honor of being the new President of the Calistoga Education Foundation Board for 2008, taking the reins from Ann Smith who has served in this capacity for the past three years. I am the mother of two children, both who have been in the Calistoga school system since kindergarten. For the past 13 years I have been a parent volunteer in the classroom, on field trips, in the art docent program, wherever needed. I served as PTA President and I have been on the CEF Board for seven years. I have also been involved in many other volunteer organizations.

This year marks the 21st anniversary of the Calistoga Education Foundation, making it a time for celebration as well as a time to look towards the future. The goal of the Foundation was at the beginning and still is today to provide our local Calistoga schools with funding for new and innovative educational ideas, programs, and field trips to supplement and expand the ongoing curriculum. We have been able to strengthen our goal of increasing our endowment fund through the many years of effort by hardworking and dedicated volunteers; and through the generous financial support of the community at our annual spring auctions. It is with great joy and immense pride in our volunteer organization that I announce our endowment fund hit the $1,000,000 mark this summer! Congratulations are in order for all those who participated in this momentous achievement. I believe our founders would be proud of how strong our commitment continues towards their vision.

In looking towards the future, the CEF Board would love to have new volunteers join us in working together to enrich our children's education. Our group has reached a crossroads in the path of volunteerism. We had a large group of volunteers involved in the spring auctions, unfortunately their children have graduated over the past several years. We still have a super group of volunteers; however, they are much fewer in numbers than in previous years. We just need more people to come help us so we will be able to continue to put on our annual spring auction. Please call me at 942-9101, my home number. I would like to talk to you about our organization and how you can help. You may also call T'Anne Butcher, our Auction Chairperson, at 758-8232 to volunteer to help with the spring auction. Si habla espano!, please call Irais Lopez at 942-8243.

I encourage you to help us by actively volunteering your time. Help us reach our financial goals by mailing in a donation (form enclosed) today. Please come help us have fun at our annual spring auction on May 17, 2008. Our theme will be Celebrate Discovery.

I thank you for your support.
